Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

Priority One for the Next Democratic President Must Be Restoring Democracy
The Biden years were a missed opportunity, but, as Trump’s authoritarian spree shows, Democrats (and democracy) cannot afford another one.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the creation of Medicare and Medicaid — and nearly one month since President Trump's federal budget cut almost $1 trillion from Medicaid.

“It is a matter of life and death. Literally, Medicaid has been a lifeline, and people will die.”

And one final thought: Ozzy going out after giving an emotional final performance that raised a ton of money for charity is more spiritually uplifting and did more genuine good than anything any televangelist and religious grifter who railed against him ever did combined.

In 1979, for even the most avid NME reader living outside Britain’s big cities, it wasn’t easy to get to see new bands. Sure, you could hear them on John Peel, but that didn’t tell you anything about their stage demeanours. It follows that many of those who watched Joy Division perform ‘Transmission’ and ‘She’s […]

Just awful: A 75-year-old man just died in ICE custody, ICE has revealed in a notice to Congress.

But here's the rub: This man, a Cuban national, was first paroled into the US in 1966—nearly 60 years ago! They were set to deport him anyway.

Details in my new piece:
