Thank you to everyone who reached out about our need for a book cover illustrator! The response has been wonderful. Please be patient as we're sorting through all of your posts, messages and portfolios. We hope to come to a decision soon!

A repost from @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com (Hi Neil 😁) prompts responses primarily from readers who find this nonsensical - and every author I know is a reader too. Add booksellers and publishers who agree, and it's clear whoever's peddling this knows nothing about *any* aspect of the book business!
Apparently elsewhere on social media, writers are supposed to consider other authors are their competition. No, that's really not the way things work. We encourage and support each other in this challenging business and recommend each others' books because a rising tide lifts all the boats.

Marketing your book is like fishing. If you don't have a good line or a hook, you won't garner any attention at all.
Marketing your book is like fishing. It's a lot easier if you have the money to pay someone else to do it for you.

As great as it was to finally have Captain Rex appear in live action on this week's episode of Ahsoka, the absolute best part was having my youngest turn and look at me as we both silently acknowledged how freaking cool that moment really was.

Bill Willingham's decision to release Fables into the public domain is badassery of the highest degree, saying DC Comics is "a revolving door of strangers of no measurable integrity who... interpret... our contract in ways that only benefit DC Comics and its owner companies." Not a good look, DC.

Dubious about KKR's ability to turbo charge book publisher Simon & Schuster enough to flip its private equity deal to the benefit of both companies. First that's a lot of debt to be saddled with and second KKR's track record isn't the prettiest. But hey at least the Big 5 is still the Big 5 right?

For about a year and a half, Coca-Cola has experimented with limited-edition beverages that have mystery tastes — most of them with vague, futuristic concepts and undisclosed flavors.

Influencer Book Publishing is gaming the system. Bindery and ByteDance both seek to leverage the power of social media influencers (mostly from TikTok) who will curate (and in some cases write), publish, and promote books. Vertical marketing at its finest. Will be interesting to see if it succeeds!

This article starts as commentary on the economies of book blurbing and segues into one on diversity and the state of publishing in general. Blurbs are important, but only as part of the strange alchemy that goes into somehow making a title a success. #bookpublishing #writingcommunity bit.ly/3Rc2fkU
