Q: How did the world get so ugly?

A: "... we no longer believe in the idea of ordinary beauty, or in the idea of a public that deserves ordinary beauty."

Zohran Mamdani's campaign in NYC has been the most hopeful political act I've seen in many years. Maybe since Jack Layton's campaign in 2011.
I cannot emphasize enough how much Zohran Mamdani's campaign was very much about a platform focused on accountability, but also about having fun, fostering genuine connections with its citizens, and reminding people why they moved to New York City and should still want to live there

Thrilled to see this review of Alexis Von Konigslow's brilliant exceptional THE EXCLUSION ZONE!

"Reading The Exclusion Zone is like walking through the dark, silent forest itself—the deeper you go, the closer you get to the truth."

There is nothing worse for poetry than a poet who has no enthusiasm for the art form. No love. No humility. Just that snide, above-it-all derision for all the work they deem unworthy. It's so tired and dim and cynical and barren. It sucks the blood out of poetry like a tick.

Dick Cheney was a monster. He did not have one redeeming human quality. He is dead. He lived too long. One day someone will speak his name for the last time. May that day come soon.

AI bots are the zombies that zombie movies and comics and novels were predicting all along. Self-publishing scams and publicity scams are proliferating with AI bots. All kinds of phishing scams. Everywhere you turn, there's another AI bot standing in your way, trying to feed off your life-force.

Ursula K. Le Guin was born on Oct 21, 1929 (96 years ago yesterday). This poem from my new book NMLCT is written after her short story "Nine Lives," originally published in the Nov 1969 issue of Playboy Magazine. Her essential work continues to radiate thru our lives.
