I am sorry to say it, but this is probably one of the most important things you can repost today.
Certainly worth repeating in the times we are in..

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

This is what resistance looks like. You do what you can. Anything you can! We support you Sen. Booker!
I’ve taken the Senate floor and will speak for as long as I’m physically able to lift the voices of Americans who are being harmed and not being heard in this moment of crisis. Watch here:

Chilling report from Brown University.

Administration advises all foreign students, staff, and faculty to postpone or reconsider (ie cancel) international travel, due to federal government's crackdown on universities.

Brown also warns against *domestic travel* -since it's unclear what ICE will do.

I'm starting to understand how the Roman Senate continued holding regular meetings until 603 AD
People are talking themselves around to why surrendering is savvy, and they're probably even right in terms of public opinion and electoral impact and so on, but if you think you're ever going to get the power you're losing now back, you're delusional.
The whole political moment - both for much of the public and for many or most of the senators - is defined by the fact that most people don't grasp what's actually being done inside the government, the faits accompli being made. Senators shld know. But I don't get the sense they fully do.

From inside the DoD:

“Schumer's bungling over the past two months & creation of this lose-lose scenario is a complete dereliction of his duties.
This was the sole moment where they had any real potential leverage to stand up and fight for the Constitution & they completely blew it from day 1.”
Text from a fed employee:

“We are truly alone.”
"I don’t get paid if there’s a shutdown but shutting the government down and putting up a fight is preferable to giving in."

"Every single one of my colleagues supports a shutdow."

"Everyone I know in my office was hoping the Dems would grow a spine and shut the government down."

If your excuse as an elected official, here in 2025, for not doing something that is in the interest of Dems who elected you is that Republicans might weaponize it, you are not living in 2025. They are going to weaponize anything you do, either way. They have demonstrated this over and over.

Sorry.
The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired.

Also à propos of nothing: authoritarian systems love laws with wide targets. Because they'll apply these selectively: only to the out-group--except, of course that the out-group gets redefined and extended by the regime as time passes. A lot of people will think themselves safe, until they aren't.

Oh, we're foreign agents now, I see. Hmm... This rings a bell... Where have I heard that phrase... Oh, right, Putin's Russia. Yep, that tracks.
Trump accuses any Americans who oppose his tariffs against Canada, Mexico, and China (which we, the consumers, pay) of being “controlled by China or other foreign and domestic companies.”

Yes, please. Though it’s still some of the goons in congress, it would be a start
you know what I wish we had?

the kind of democracy that came with votes of no confidence in the prime minister.

when we have a democracy again, we should maybe consider what kind we would like.

An FAQ from the new mgmt, I mean govmnt - “The way to greater American prosperity is encouraging people to move from lower productivity jobs in the public sector to higher productivity jobs in the private sector.” FML
I’m hearing from inside HHS that employees keep getting more messages re the OPM deferred resignation stuff. They’re adding most (all? Probably all) to the faq page, but it’s not getting less dumb. I have heard some, let’s say, skepticism about the “paperwork” here.
