Every time I have to de-rust my stainless steel kitchen sink with Barkeeper's Friend, I'm amusingly reminded that Cybertruck owners have to do the same thing

An amazing amount of work went into this bsky.app/profile/ucla... study/report/infomaps, etc on the damaging legacy of racist highway construction in communities and cities up and down the state.

Unhoused people are not "People with zero source of income."

Unhoused people are "People whose source of income is not enough to acquire and maintain a house."

In 2025, you can have a job, and through unseen events (wildfire, medical debt, temporary loss of income, arrest) lose your housing.

Apple has got to let me give Siri different names.

My iPhone Siri sometimes struggles with home automation commands. My HomePod Siri usually struggles with shortcuts. Which device picks up "Hey Siri” is random.

Apple devices are more fractured then the company deludes into thinking otherwise.

Really enjoyed talking with @brooklynspoke.bsky.social and @sgoodyear.bsky.social while they were in San Diego promoting "Life After Cars." They met me in Balboa Park (in the pouring rain!) so we could see, hear and discuss the ways cars have impacted our most precious public spaces.

Have a listen!
BONUS: "Life After Cars” (w/ The War on Cars)
What would society look like if people no longer needed their cars? That's the premise of the new book “Life After Cars,” written by Doug Gordon and Sarah Goodyear.

For those who saw Mamdani’s performance on Fox News last month, it should come as no surprise that he managed to sway Trump to support him. Mamdani’s got the juice and by jove would I love to see more leftists out there with that kind of political talent.
Just watched the entire Fox interview with Mamdani and holy SHIT he killed it. This level of message discipline, framing the pitch to fit the priors & biases of the target audience, outflanking them on key narratives like mom-and-pop businesses — it is absolutely unbelievable to see this brilliance.

Reporter: Are you affirming that you think the president is a fascist?

Mamdani: I've spoken about --

Trump: Just say yes, it's easier than explaining.

Chaofeng Ge died in ICE custody.

He was found hanging with his hands and feet tied behind him in the “hog tie” position.

Deaths within these camps continue to rise, with more people dying in the last nine months than in the entire previous four years.

I'm convinced that the French person who invented "mise en place" had ADHD cause I just can't stand having to prepare ingredients while food is cooking. I don't care how much time it saves me, I'd rather save my sanity

When racial discrimination in housing, employment, and society was no longer legal, people made damn sure to find a different way to keep their neighborhoods segregated

In most places, that simply meant a moratorium on construction of any new homes

Think reeeeeaaallll hard about why this same thing, an insane drop in housing production, happened in every city in America immediately after the Civil Rights movement
amusing chart. it turns out New York City built more housing units in the 1920s than in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010s put together www.nyc.gov/content/plan...
