Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.

Remind you of anyone?

The remote work debate was funny because it forced the question "Is a job something valuable you do or is it a place you go to be watched like daycare" and the answer for a lot of them was yeah it's the daycare thing now come on inside recess is over

One of my patient’s MS medications had a $500 copay last month. This month, the copay is $6,000. This medication is life-sustaining. My patient will DIE without it, a slow AGONIZING drawn out unnecessary death.

Tell me again how he’s making America “great” again.

thing is you need to want civil rights for your neighbors—in your city, in your state, in your country and beyond—even if they are stupid fucking assholes

This has become a popular metaphor on the Right and it captures their political project so precisely:

The unruly kids, that’s everyone who dares to deviate from white Christian patriarchal rule; the only way to deal with them is via coercion and violence – the Leader must punish them.

the answer to "why don't americans have..." and it's something so simple like national healthcare or feeding kids at school the answer is "bc Black people would also have it"
This is why America didn't get national health care back in the days of the Truman Administration, 1945-1953: white racists didn't want black Americans to get it.
After years of talking to Trump supporters my view of them has become very simple: They want socialist, even sometimes progressive reforms but they want them from someone who makes those reforms feel powerful and masculine and they want to make sure the people they don't like don't benefit from them

This is your reminder that, if you're flying through JFK and have a layover, there is a heated swimming pool atop the vintage TWA Terminal & also multiple cocktail bars, and you can buy a day pass to the pool. We discovered this last year. Also, everything is holiday decorations. It's so great.
