Douglas Barrowman and Michelle Mone's company, PPE Medpro, has just been ordered to refund the Government £122m from a PPE contract.

There are two very odd things about PPE Medpro that may affect the odds of the Government ever getting that £122m...

It's geography, innit?

“what we’ve got to do is build between the places people care about: from their homes to their shops, to their place of worship, to the school and so on. We’ve got to think about that in a really serious way.”

I often see the massive Drax liveried trains, presumably full of chopped down trees to be burnt.
This is not an environmentally friendly or low carbon process and needs to stop.
It feels like fraud basically.

Awful incident, clearly. Even more reason for the reporting on it to be correct, as shown by this NYT headline.

Excellent editorial here.
An SUV causes 16 times as much road damage as a regular car.
They're way more dangerous in collisions or if one hits a pedestrian or cyclist.
They have no redeeming factors and 99%+ are just ego wagons for their drivers. Tax them to hell

"Public investment" vs "Wasteful Subsidy." The only problem with this clever Singer cartoon is that some people might actually not get that it’s sarcastically illustrating the incorrect perception problem, NOT telling the truth.

Just in case it actually needs to be said, the truth is the opposite.

Fuel duty & the future of motoring taxation are arguably the biggest policy issues in transport - impacting all parts of the UK.

But DfT, devolved nations, local government and the public have no say in deciding how to solve these linked challenges fairly & effectively.

This has to change.

We need to nuance this post by looking at who gets hurt. The deaths linked to older drivers in the post below are disproportionately the older drivers killing themselves; whereas younger drivers disproportionately kill their passengers and other road users

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.
