weird how the guy born into obscene wealth, bailed out repeatedly, allowed to fail upwards forever until he fell ass-backwards into the presidency, and then was declared by the Supreme Court to be a Very Special Boy Who Can Crime Forever never stops whining about how everything is rigged against him

Artists and journalists have paid the price for having a political opinion. Nothing more – and sometimes barely even that. Lattouf, Sabsabi, Wyld, Sakr etc are only the most public cases; we’ll never know about those who were silenced, quietly excluded or denied opportunities in the first place.
New:
It’s absurd and embarrassing in a liberal democracy to have to say this, but people shouldn’t be punished for protesting against genocidal oppression, or speaking about it.
So many cultural institutions have done this very thing though - and damaged themselves in the process.

😂😂😂

He doesn't even try again. He just walks away as if he actually hit it.

What's he going to do next, walk down the fairway, take 'a drop' directly into the cup and call it a hole in one?

Fuck

🤣🤣🤣
I was trying to stick to Canadian news today and some good vibes but this is too funny not to share. 😂😅🤣
🌮Taco In Chief 🌮 swings and misses. He’s definitely really bad at golfing 🤣🤣🤣

Opinion | Victoria desperately needs a politically competent opposition.

Maybe it can't come from the Victorian Liberals, but from somewhere else instead, writes Bernard Keane.
The Victorian Liberals are beyond help. Let them sink and start again
Despite the corruption rampant in Victoria, the Victorian Liberals remain obsessed with their own internal brawls, and remain unelectable. Genuine liberals may have to go elsewhere.

I was looking forward to a debate with my Liberal opponent on the ABC’s 730 tonight but she has unfortunately declined the invitation.

My view on Labor’s super plans is they’ve let the issue of taxing unrealised gains overtake the bigger picture here, which is that super has been allowed to become an absurd tax-lite wealth haven. Get rid of the unrealised stuff, but go much harder on super earnings for the very rich

Debt or otherwise a rail loop is crucial for future growth - Kennett ripped up lines that were is situ for expanding outer suburbs & commute prospects. The infrastructure was there - as well as health & safety for communities & public schools were a strong option. Kennett decimated all of these.

Kennett also ripped up the recently constructed Webb Dock railway to build the AFL Docklands stadium. Now we have a major part of the Port of Melbourne without freight rail access, and 100% dependant on heavy trucks. The cost of reinstating the line on a partial new route will be massive.

It must be hard for these old guys to adjust to Modern Australia.

Things were so much easier back in the day when there wern't many women here

I grew up in a place where elections were neither free nor fair nor safe.

Every time I have the privilege of voting in Australia, I find myself reflecting on and reveling in the marvel that is our open and inclusive democracy.

Happy Democracy Day, Australia!

Surely that phrase will go down as one of the most savage back-knifings in the history of politics

If the parliamentary wing of the LNP is too incompetent or too lazy to design policies over three years in opposition, there is a limited amount any Campaign Director can do to gloss over it when the campaign proper is underway & scrutiny is real. #Dutton
