Retired 84 year old still searching for the Age of Wisdom

No pm's please without prior arrangement
And to think that Reynolds once sat in parliament to represent us! We should all be ashamed that such a person could have been voted in

Test cricket is finished. There is more money in the short form of the game and players no longer possess the patience, perseverance or technique for the pure form of the game.

Neither do audiences for the most part.

A bunch of lost followers searching for a Leader

What is it with the Libs?

One could conclude that they are quite content drawing their pay and entitlements as MP's without the responsibility and difficulties of attempting to achieve government

Immigration! what is their issue? Australia is a nation that has been built on immigration!

The birth rate needed to maintain populations is 2.1 children per woman. Australia's current birth rate is 1.48

Is depopulation the new policy of the LNP?

They seem to have become a Party that no longer has any ambition to form a government.

Just a bunch of followers searching for a messiah

You are all far too generous!

Hastie, Price, Abbott et al may be the future of the Liberal Party

Fortunately the Liberal Party is not the future of Australia.

I have no doubt that something will arise to replace it - democratic government needs a strong opposition party - hopefully that won't take too long

What is a "White Leftist"?
September 19, 2025 at 3:11 PM
It probably accounts for why he has turned himself into a caricature of an Aussie "Bloke"

The LNP carry on as if they see themselves as permanent opposition, in the Abbott mould, rather than as alternative government

Goverening is hard, opposing is easy

It was formally abandoned in 1992, by Paul Keating

The thing is that this is just the natural progression of a system that has always had gerrymandered electorates, voter suppression, voter apathy and big money needed to buy elections.

Has it ever been a real democracy?

I'm not defending AUKUS, quite the reverse in fact, I think its bad

However, one would hope that our Government is a bit more knowledgable about these sort of things than two-thirds of Australians

It's what we elect them for
August 21, 2025 at 5:41 AM
I claim no inside knowledge - quite the reverse in fact - but it would be very surprising to me if our Government were not already considering the politics of the USA with concern and working on defences from it.

What would be even more surprising would be if our Govt were talking about it publicly

From what I saw it looked like the red carpet was so Trump could see which way to go.

Even with that he seemed to find it difficult to walk in a straight line!

There are many words in English that can have multiple meanings: For instance

Doctor = one who tends to the sick
Doctor = one who makes changes to something
Doctor = One who has earned a higher academic degree

Etc

"What is a General Practitioner (GP)? A GP is a highly skilled doctor who supports patients throughout their lives. They assess, diagnose and treat all common medical conditions. A GP can help you to manage your health and prevent illness."

I am of course aware of what a PhD is
August 15, 2025 at 9:49 PM
You do realize that a batchelors degree in medicine is not enough for a person to practice as a "Doctor"? It takes several more years - up to 15 years, or more for specialists.

You are not the first to make that sort of innane comment, and you won't be the last, but I had thought better of you
August 15, 2025 at 9:02 PM
That's a cheap shot at the medical profession - it doesn't become you
