"U turn."

The negative use of this term - in the (UK) meeeedia - burns my toast.

Surely, if you find yourself going the wrong way - say it's just become clear that this way is not working out and the road doesn't have any convenient junctions - a U turn is often a sensible move?

Knowledge is elitist.
Education is snobby.
Expertise is detached.
The only way to be truly "democratic” is to crowd-source reality.

That has been the political vibe of the last ten years, not just in Britain, and it is the road to ruin.
The pandemic probably didn’t help.
The logical culmination of Gove’s ‘we don’t trust experts’. Now it’s ’we don’t know anything’.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau:

"Today, the United States launched a trade war against Canada - their closest partner and ally, their closest friend. At the same time, they're talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin - a lying murderous dictator. Make that makes sense."

If you’d asked AI to write a piece of Russian propaganda in the style of Donald Trump, this is what you’d get. Well done America, you’ve elected a Russian asset as your President.

On the left, my image. On the right, the Al image that was clearly trained on, and designed to plagiarize, my image.

All Al generated imagery is inherently theft. It's unethical, environmentally disastrous, and does irreparable harm to both artists and society.

Food scientist here. Top priority has been to reformulate foods to be cheaper over the last few years. I used to occasionally buy what I design. No more. I always cook from ingredients now because the processed stuff is just so bad nowadays.
