Replace Democrats with Labour, and the despot with the far right + media here and the comparisons line up, though at least the Dems have the excuse of being in opposition for their weakness, not supposedly in power like Labour are. Rank cowardice abounds in these fake progressive parties.

SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

But that is not enough. No.10 should never have been in a position to install Gibb in the first place. It shouldn't control the board membership, the DG appointment, or the purse strings. What's required is genuine independence for the BBC.

The US can learn a lot from Brazil, slapping Musk down and putting someone who tried an insurrection in prison rather than the highest office to start...
We’re in Brazil — one of the world’s great democracies, one of our biggest trading partners — and not a single person from the Trump Administration showed up.

That’s shameful.

I've always felt that Johnson and Farage put self-interest over the national interest - hence their dallying with Putin and his oligarchs. But directly colluding with a foreign government to take down the BBC feels like an act of supreme treachery

Let’s be clear: there is no evidence of censorship or editorial breach. Just a demand that the BBC treat equality itself as a “debate.”

That’s not balance. That’s bias - the kind that hurts real people.

So the Telegraph’s “BBC bias dossier” - supposedly written by ex-BBC adviser Michael Prescott - is being used to claim there’s a rogue LGBT+ unit “censoring” gender-critical voices inside the BBC.

Let’s look at what’s actually in it. Spoiler: it’s nothing but recycled transphobic talking points!

🧵
For reference - Here’s the Telegraph article with the Prescott memo complaining about the BBC published in FULL.

Obviously, it’s an archived link which circumvents their paywall - as there’s no way I’m gonna give that transphobic rag any clicks or coin! 😣

🧵💚Does the Green Party's wider focus on economic/social justice issues mean that climate is being crowded out? Not for their voters - in fact those who now say they would vote green are more likely to back a range of 'climate action' measures than those who voted Green in 2024.

So lies around the Iraq war is roughly when it started, then throw in the weakness to the lies around the 2008 crash, Brexit and then headlining right wing extremists all the time leading to them radicalising their viewership, who now see them as left wing when they're anything but. Surprised, not.
"Worryingly, according to YouGov, trust in the BBC declined from 81% to 47% between 2004 and 2020..."

The Green Party alongside campaigners have been calling for this - and it's good to see maybe they've finally listened.

Why can't they just be honest? Say the commitments were wrong and it's turned out to fix things it's going to require a lot more investment. If they want to keep people onside, equal the tax rates between earned and passive (aka wealth) incomes first so it's seen as fair at least.

I'm holding back on what I want to really call YP, but this thread kinda covers the incompetency and factional nature of it. The car crash continues.
Three people who’d be expected to be Your Party bigwigs have largely walked away from Corbyn’s project: former NE mayor Jamie Driscoll, former Labour MP Beth Winter, and former ANC MP Andrew Feinstein.

I have some new intel on the fall-out, if you’re interested in that sort of thing… 🧵
