Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

This right here.
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

@ossoff.bsky.social democrats have the moral high ground. Please don't cave in until we get ACA subsidies solved.
Ossoff: "We have a president who's completely out of control, a crook engaged in unprecedented corruption, who's passing one of the most unpopular agendas in history. The public is turning against him. The opposition is motivated. We can win & we have to win, but we don't have the luxury of despair"

@ossoff.bsky.social what has changed? Please do not cave in! We believe in you!

Trump’s authoritarian agenda is not popular. His big, ugly bill is not popular. Ripping health care away from millions of Americans is not popular.

As @aoc.bsky.social explains, he and Republicans are weaker than they look. Democrats must stand strong and refuse to cave.

I am not aware of any gun violence that happened when I was a kid.

RFK Jr: We had lots of guns when we were kids. Kids brought guns to school and were encouraged to do so. And nobody was walking into schools and shooting people. There are many things that could explain this. One is the dependence on psychiatric drugs.

As a survivor, I can't think of a more fitting metaphor than a rapist creating loud noises with planes as a survivor tries to tell her story. I mean... just wow. Nevertheless, she persisted.

The right time for this is now! This is an existential crisis. How many mistakes are they allowed to make. We need better leaders.
"It is past time for both Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer to step down and step aside. This fascist moment, this age of Trump, demands outspoken, unrelenting and fearless opposition... we all deserve better."

I make the case, in my latest for The Guardian, for new leadership:

I am shocked.
Remember all of those hefty handouts Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski won in exchange for sealing the deal on Donald Trump’s behemoth budget bill? It looks like the president has found a way to get out of delivering.
