Microsoft 'sometimes' hands keys over to requesting authorities. They receive "about 20 requests per year".

Remember if you don't protect your data end-to-end yourself, it is no longer only your data.
NEW: Microsoft handed the FBI the recovery keys to decrypt the hard drives of three laptops encrypted with BitLocker.

BitLocker is enabled by default in modern Windows laptops, but Microsoft also prompts users to upload the recovery keys to the company's cloud, which opens up this possibility.
Microsoft gave FBI a set of BitLocker encryption keys to unlock suspects' laptops: reports | TechCrunch
The FBI served Microsoft a warrant requesting encryption recovery keys to decrypt the hard drives of people involved in an alleged fraud case in Guam.

The US DOT says it's planning to prioritize areas with high marriage & high birth rates for funding.

Our new analysis @urbaninstitute.bsky.social shows this would disproportionately fund:
—Communities with a higher white resident share
—Low-density areas
—High-income areas
—Car-dependent areas
DOT’s Plan to Distribute Funding by Birth and Marriage Rates Would Leave Communities Most In Need Behind
If enacted, the new US Department of Transportation memo would prioritize funding to whiter, higher-income, more car-dependent areas over communities of color and people who walk, bike, or take public...

Target's actions directly influenced us to buy into Costco.
Costco, which has come out saying it supports DEI, will make no changes to its existing programs, AND pays workers a minimum of $30/hour, is up 15% YTD.

Target, which announced it is ending all DEI programs and has a minimum wage of $15-$24/hour, is down over 4%.

Keep voting with your wallet.

The policy starts Monday and applies to already awarded grants. The UofM received a $59.2 million grant in *December*. Republicans just defunded cancer research in MN and blew a huge hole in our state budget. This isn’t a potential future problem. It’s here, now, and devastating.

We need more of this. Wake TF up, Dems!
Murphy: "We need to act like a real opposition party in the middle of a constitutional and democracy crisis. That means we should not be moving forward nominees or legislation in the Senate. Ds should not be giving votes to nominee or legislation in the Senate until Rs get serious about this crisis"

I think it’s really interesting how many of the DEI comments made by the administration are about disability and the headline says DEI and folks here assume it’s a comment about race.

They’re coming for everyone but let’s be precise where we can. The ableism is LOUD and aggressive from these folks

Nice use of doublespeak, @mndot.bsky.social .
MnDOT's "climate defeatism" (maybe "denialism" is a better word):

"It suggests that a smaller road with more space for greenery would increase exposure to air pollution, whereas an expanded freeway that directly cuts through neighborhoods wouldn’t."

➡️120,000 people travel this busy stretch every day.

No mention of people living within poisoning distance of 94, higher asthma rates, lifespans cut short.

Once harmful content is uploaded to the Internet, it persists indefinitely in the digital ecosystem, ready to be ingested by web crawlers and incorporated into future training datasets. This creates an enduring vulnerability that can compromise models that do not yet exist...
A paper in Nature Medicine reports that large language models can be manipulated to generate misinformation by poisoning a small percentage of data on which they are trained and presents a harm mitigation strategy that can offer a method to address this vulnerability. #Medsky 🧪
Medical large language models are vulnerable to data-poisoning attacks - Nature Medicine
Large language models can be manipulated to generate misinformation by poisoning of a very small percentage of the data on which they are trained, but a harm mitigation strategy using biomedical knowledge graphs can offer a method for addressing this vulnerability.
