So it’s Sept ‘23 and I’ve decided to start with a couple of hobbies. Have invested in some watercolour paints, brushes and paper. But why stop there, I’ve also bought a woodworking bench and some tools.

Seems bad. Anyone yet factoring in 10m of sea level into infrastructure planning?
Up to 59% of Antarctic ice shelves may be at risk of disappearing under high-emission scenarios by 2300, according to an analysis of the effect of ocean warming in Nature. This could result in up to 10 m of global sea-level rise. go.nature.com/47Ag4k1 🌊 🧪

I get that people like me have been saying "make closer ties with Europe" since the day after the referendum and for much of that time there were political arguments against. But if Starmer can't see that he now has full top-cover to do that, he really isn't very smart.

It's a scandal.

We cannot create reliefs like R&D tax relief. I's generous, vague, and impossible to police - a dangerous combination. Better to have narrowly focussed reliefs which are only available to a much smaller number of businesses doing really serious R&D.

During the Falklands War, the SAS insisted on landing on Fortuna Glacier while trying to retake South Georgia.

This was against the advice of scientists of the British Antarctic Expedition familiar with the island, including several who had avoided capture on South Georgia until relieved /1

These hundreds of people who didn’t want to contribute to society through their taxes. Part of me thinks “yeah well, fuck ‘em”.
One of the country’s most incompetent and damaging tax advisers, Chris Bailey, has just filed for bankruptcy.

His firms, SKS Bailey, OCG and Less Tax for Landlords sold a deeply incompetent landlord tax avoidance scheme. Hundreds of people face financial ruin.

Too right. It’s obviously different from petrol stations, which are typically completely unobtrusive, fit perfectly with the surrounding environment and are architectural marvels that would make Frank Lloyd Wright weep.
Plans for an 8-bay EV charging station on the A40 at Eynsham have been turned down by local planners. West Oxfordshire District Council said “the proposal will be of an urban nature which will appear incongruous and result in a marked change in the character and appearance of the site”.

This.

Those with power do not want others to have human rights - the rights you have because you are human.

That is why they sneer at human rights, use the media and propaganda to deride those rights, and cut off legal aid so the rights cannot be asserted.

And some unwise people clap and cheer.
The assertion of human rights is normally unpopular with those in power. That’s why we have them.
