OpenHamClock running in a web tab and cast to the big screen.

Second shot shows HamClock running as per usual off a Pi.

Amazing what has been pulled off so far by the talented OpenHamClock team.

Another HamClock Project.

Here's another of several active HamClock projects aiming to keep Elwood Downey's legacy alive. This one hopes to emulate the backend server that was at the heart of HamClock.

Here's a report from Daily.HamWeekly.com:

Beautiful long-tailed atmospheric river, now mostly deflected N of Metro Vancouver, shepherded by L and H-pressure regions. Cropped from today's "blue marble" shot from GOES-18 at 2130 UTC/1:30 PM PST.

OpenHamClock to the rescue...

In an effort to preserve the amazing work of WB0EBW, we are seeing an equally amazing and rapid rollout of the vestiges of a replacement, should the original HamClock shut down in June.

Check out the amazing work already completed at

Zap! Another X-class flare, although barely. That's three in 24 h from the same sunspot group. Centered around 1410 UTC / 610 AM PST here in Vancouver. HF radio signals blackout conditions for an hour or so over South America.

Some success with receiving and decoding 20 m SSTV, mostly in Scottie1 mode, on 14.230 MHz, from here in Vancouver. Using MLA-30+ loop antenna, @SDRplay RSPdx tuner, SDRuno, and RX-SSTV.
February 2, 2026 at 10:52 PM
What might this be?

Rather wide signal centered around 14.229 MHz? I came across while leaving an SDR running to decode SSTV on 14.230 MHz.

Sharply-defined atmospheric river in today's "blue marble" crop from GOES-18 at 2030 UTC / 1230 PM PST. The "river" is being shaped by a number of L and H pressure regions. The net effect is warmer air funneled towards Metro Vancouver.

Good example of Doppler shift, as seen here through the signal from the ISS voice repeater downlink as it passed south of my Metro Vancouver location a few minutes ago.

Yes! Success with overnight (WRMI, 5850 kHz, 0800-0830 UTC) Shortwave Radiogram transmission. Not perfect but decoded 10 Canadian flags! QTH Vancouver. MLA-30+ loop antenna, @SDRplay RSPdx tuner, SDRuno, FLdigi.

Thanks to Tony Pavick, of @popshopradio.bsky.social in Hope BC for the show!

Iranian and American UAVs over the Straits of Hormuz, and beyond. Two pairs of views, from two flight tracking agencies. Details in the snapshots, taken at ~0600z, Monday morning Tehran time.

Ready for the overnight @swradiogram.bsky.social transmission, on WRMI, 5850 kHz, 0800-0830 UTC, featuring Canadiana, the flags of Canada's provinces and territories, produced by the proprietor at @popshopradio.bsky.social.

More on that big X-class 8.1 solar flare centered around the UTC date change from Feb 01 to 02.

Some indications this flaring may be sustained and that another X-class flare of similar magnitude could be in the offing.
February 2, 2026 at 1:15 AM
Biggie! A monster, actually. X-class. Centered around 2359 UTC / So Feb 01 into 02. X-class for sure but magnitude not sure. Stay tuned. Radio signals wipeout over the Pacific but short-lived.

The flaring is sustained. Another X-class could be in the offing.

Take a glance at HF propagation over past 24h. Based on monitoring in Vancouver all bands, 10-160 m, with MLA-30+ loop antenna, @SDRplay RSPdx tuner.

Here are the mappings for 10, 15, 1`7, and 20 m bands.

And the Globemaster III C-17A freighters keep flying back and forth between CONUS and the Middle East. Five are visible in these shots; details on four are provided.

Snapshots just ahead of 2300z / 6 PM EST.

Just into X-class territory. A solar flare this morning centered around 1610 UTC resulted in some HF radio blackout conditions for a short while.

Lovely certificate from the Christmas Space Pi SSTV event using two cubesats, UmKA-1 and Vizard-METEO. Event involved four "matrices" and decoding using old-school coloring pencils! Thank you to all involved.

Quick glance at space weather and HF signals propagation metrics via HamClock (1, 2), PSKreporter (3), and WSPR.rocks. Conditions are pretty good. Monitoring in Vancouver. WSPR mapping shows odd data, placing my transmitter for about an hour overnight in the UK!
