California tule fog bank still persisting after more than a week, although diminishing in length. Seen here in a GOES-18 mesoscale shot, this afternoon around 1 PM PST.

As received and processed with my Nooelec ground station here in Vancouver.

Today's lovely "blue marble" shot of the eastern Pacific, as received and processed with my Nooelec ground station in Vancouver via 1.7 GHz radio signal from GOES-18 at 137 W. Taken at 2100 UTC / 1 PM PST, around solar noon for the satellite. Note the ocean glint. Spot the California tule fog.

Never used AMSAT's status page?

Basically look for blue or yellow. Blue indicates a voice repeater is active; also used for an APRS repeater (the ISS and satellite SONATE-2 have such repeaters). Yellow indicates telemetry, which can include SSTV.

Four amateur radio / educational cubesats "tossed" overboard from the ISS today. These satellites will be transmitting telemetry on 70 cm band.

Google, and its rapidly evolving AI toolset, is on a roll. OpenAI/ChatGPT/Altman feel compelled to issue an internal "code red" about the heated competition.

Still improving my 70 cm / UHF SSTV reception setup. At least I'm getting something from ArcticSat1 on 435.890 MHz. Now, let's see if @ARISS_Intl updates the schedule for redeployed ISS SSTV event on Vizard-Meteo.

Stunning! METEOR M-N2-4 at 3 PM as the Russian weather satellite passed W of Vancouver. Check out the line of stratovolcanoes (with shadows), and the offshore ship "contrails". Received and processed via 137 MHz radio signal and TV rabbit ears antenna. @seattlewxguy.bsky.social

"Math" is a trending topic on X/Twitter in Canada today. Yes, "Math". The tweets are terrific, and wide-ranging. I was drawn in immediately. Take a look if math and physics and engineering appeal to you. Maybe it can trend here too.

California's massive tule fog continues. It's been about a week. Here we see the fogbank today, yesterday, and Friday. All shots around midday, mesoscale from GOES-18, as received and processed with my own ground station in Vancouver.
