any city is a walkable city if you’re a rat

No one likes new taxes but defunding transit doesn’t punish the agencies, it punishes the riders.
This is the CTA map you’re advocating for.

Should also be applied to CTA, for all its vacant retail spaces in and adjacent to El stations. Lower the rent and ease the terms until it works for some go-getter who will make things better and safer for riders. @chicagobars.bsky.social
A vacancy tax on landlords could help fill the city’s affordable housing gap, University of Chicago students say. blockclubchi.co/3GXtKvL

The pitch is never that AI will fold the laundry for us, it's always that AI will remove the good stuff from our lives. Picking a birthday present for my kid isn't a box I check, it's something I want to do, and six months later when that's the stuffy she sleeps with I get to feel good about that.

1) USPS did not lose $3.3b. It provided a service that cost $3.3b. *The Pentagon* loses you money, however, every time it accidentally yeets a fighter jet off the deck of a carrier
NEW: The U.S. Postal Service posted a net loss of $3.3 billion in this fiscal year’s second quarter mainly due to “significant challenges out of our control,” including workers’ compensation costs, Luke Grossmann, USPS chief financial officer, said at the open session of the governing board meeting

this is why keeping architecture and planning local is important!! bc yes in Chicago the patios on the sunny side of the street have been open since mid-March while the shady side are still empty and closed. But if you’re building in say SoCal? Ya need all the shaded spaces all year bb.
Anglosphere planners go to great lengths to prevent shadows. This is absurd to me, a moderately observant human who occasionally goes outside and sees that people like being in the shade.

Someone needs to put these blue collar cosplayers to work building the 10 million housing units we need
White dudes are just bored, that’s why we need to destroy the economy.

The lesson of today is: Never let impostor syndrome hold you back. There's almost no way you're actually less competent than some of the people in charge.
