Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

I want to encourage more people to take a beat. Take a beat when you have those big activated feelings. Responding in the moment comes from a sense of urgency, a rush to be "right". It also has your response coming from primary emotions, which are often shields from your secondary emotions.
