The liberal establishment is putting more effort into stopping a progressive from becoming mayor of New York than they are to stopping all of Trump’s illegal actions combined at the moment.

going fully fully fully fully fully insane reading the paragraph about cumo's progressive "accomplishments" with zero mention of the decade he spent ratfucking the state legislature because they weren't conservative enough. oh well, they conclude. true centrism has never been tried
not to expose myself as insufficiently cynical but I’m actually kind of shocked at how bad this is across multiple levels—as a piece of analysis, as a piece of rhetoric, and as a deployment of the NYT’s outsized power in this specific instance

We can beat Cuomo.

In the Democratic primary, rank Mamdani, Lander, Myrie, Adrienne Adams, and Ramos (or a fifth person who IS NOT CUOMO).

This is winnable.
Good morning, NYC. We have some very exciting news to share.

Really appreciate this from @marisakabas.bsky.social - so many of my fed worker mom friends have had their lives upended by having telework taken away, by losing their jobs, by being put on leave - it’s cruel and this administration has no business talking about helping mothers

Mahmoud Khalil’s wife, Dr. Noor Abdalla, gave birth to their first child today, a baby boy.

In a statement, she said, “My son and I should not be navigating his first days on earth without Mahmoud. ICE and the Trump administration have stolen these precious moments from our family…”

No matter your station in life, there is astoundingly little separating you from those men in that cage behind Kristi Noem. No charges, no attorneys, no hearings, no trial. Just conjecture and brute force could be enough to justify completely dehumanizing you, too.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

posts like this show how policy illiterate the left is. they only CAUGHT 34,000 fare evasion attempts, but they DISSUADED maybe 20x that many fare evasion attempts, resulting in a loss of only $149 million
"the NYPD is doubling down on a strategy it’s been using since 2022...That program cost taxpayers an additional $151 million in officer overtime and resulted in about 34,000 more summonses for fare evasion"

Wait what?

34,000 × $2.90 = $98,600

They're spending $151 million to recover $100,000? 🤔
NYPD officials say they will deploy 800 additional plain-clothes and uniformed officers to the subway to crack down on fare evasion over the next five days, in what they're calling "Operation Fare Play": "The tone of law and order must start at the fare gates."
