Still sad that I didn’t grow to 5’7” so that I had the opportunity to join the Rockettes. Book trade chica. Trying to understand this world and how to make things better for people. Maybe making Kate Bush and Dolly Parton world leaders would work

"Friends don’t let friends eat Tasmanian salmon."
Lobster fishery off Bruny Island in TAS closed on eve of the opening of fishing season due to antibiotic use by the salmon farms.
No indication of how long for. Must be a devastating blow for fishermen approaching Xmas.

I would get productivity gains if every effing app, website, program, stopped with the completely unnecessary pop ups that make me have to stop thinking about what I was doing and click not now. I am furious
There are thousands of things like this in tech. Why is search bad in Gmail. Why does Bluetooth suck. Why are most streaming apps bad. Why is file transfer still annoying. Every day it feels like I've got random issues with tech stuff while these companies sink billions into AI
if microsoft just made outlook search not suck they'd see triple the productivity gains of any AI integration

I say it over and over again: when you have that much money, you want to live where you want to live and you are simply not going to relocate because of marginal tax rates

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

No one messes with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. And also, hmm why haven’t they been nominated for an Aria? Is it because the Arias are sponsored by Spotify?
Spotify is trying to replace the artists who leave their platform in protest against AI—like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard—with deeply dodgy doppelgängers

This is possibly the most fucked thing I've ever seen but also the bit at the end where the grandmother is straight up being tricked into providing training content for the app feels particularly revealing.

This! For any art to have meaning to humans it takes a human
actually good music mashups are, after all, done by *people*. they put work into it and find songs that will complement each other. you can't just get a computer to smash two random songs into the same track and get something decent out of it.

Each time I see a proudly flown Union Jack or St George's flag, I see, as well as aggression, ignorance & self-delusion. People telling themselves a tale about a make-believe past whose sporadic positive aspects weren't what the tellers believe. Squalid fingernails clinging to an idiot's fairy tale.
