interesting — clearsky now requires you to login to see some of its data… i think this is a good move in lieu of the service shutting down entirely (i believe clearsky and listifications are net-negatives for the community) h/t @baileytownsend.dev

There's nothing a T&S team can do to "earn trust", because every single decision you make, even if it's 100% consistent, will always have one party upset with the outcome and incentivized to present their case to the court of public opinion in as distorted/favorable-to-them light as possible!

It's the core problem of Trust and Safety as an industry: because we exist, the average user of a site will think that social friction and petty slapfights are the biggest problems any site has to deal with. Maybe with a vague sense of a small subset of the Really Bad Stuff, if they think hard.

I looked at your account creation date and it explained a lot, actually! This is exactly the model Bluesky was hoping at first to use. They abandoned the idea that they could delegate enforcement to that extent *well* before you joined, because it was, to put it charitably, a fucking shitshow.
