Watching a Korean documentary about Seoul public transit history. Seoul used to have very slow trams (10km/h) and decided to scrap them all in favour of then-faster buses. In addition to a subway line.

Feels like this parking spot on Devonshire shouldn't exist, or should be moved forward like 8ft. I'd say about 50% of my commute homes have someone partially parked in the bike lane.

This isn't one size fits all solution but for cities with high downtown office vacancy rate (Halifax at 11% Calgary at 30%). This should come with a good number of businesses in the building too.

Trains. Busese. Ferries. Gondolas. Just not adding another fleet of single occupant vehicle can do so much.

About a couple months ago, I had a chat with 2 halisky people and I vented out that Canadian politics system is just too stupid.
We also have a mayor that didn't have a clue what the mayor does. He straight up admitted that a month or two after being elected.

Me thinks the council candidates should be tested with how things work. It should be a prerequisite. So that we don't end up with members of the council who don't know how things work.
*interviews with councillors continues*

Oh my god. They literally don't know where the money comes from.

Fun fact: Halifax is not allowed to set a speed limit below 50 km/h without permission from the province.

And the province only considers reductions to 40, not to 30, in most cases.

And the criteria includes a study of whether drivers are already driving close to 40 km/h!

This Korean lad biked across Canada, in 146 days to cover 10,070kms. That is a wildly brave ngl.
“Petit Donnie” is cycling 6000 kilometres through Eastern Canada right now, visiting from France and experiencing our lovely November weather. He expects to finish on Saturday. I haven’t started this youtube playlist yet, but I’ve caught some of his Newfoundland videos on facebook.

Halifax needs to make a blanket speed limit of 30km/h on residential streets. And 50km/h maximum city wide.

As vehicles get heavier, taller, and deadlier, more pedestrians are being killed than ever before.

You can type in the name of your town or city, and this interactive @washingtonpost.com feature will show you where clusters of pedestrian deaths are.

i think if you want to have those disgusting LED headlights on your car, you should have to do a test where they blast you point blank with your own headlights and then you have 15 seconds to successfully complete some sort of vision-based task, and if you can't do it they push your car off a cliff

Halifax needs the old trams back. This is what Agricola could've been if the trams were kept and the city actuality made a lot of effort in city improvement.
Reguliersbreestraat, Amsterdam in 1979 and today. Once two car-parking lanes, a single tram line with cars queueing on it, and bikes squeezed between it all. Now it’s two tram lines with generous pedestrian space. Cities reflect the priorities of the politicians who shaped them.
