1/ Oh hey it's Pride Month. I honor of this glittery new place, I'm porting over possibly the most meaningful thing (to myself) I've ever written about being gay. Meaningful not just for the particular story, but also for the meta point that I never thought I'd write something like this publicly.

I'll be real honest and say I have even more contempt than before for "wow the fellas sure are saying some bad shit on twitter" non-analysis.

If you can't connect ideas, meaningfully describe ideology, offer opposing viewpoints, or even offer means of support, what are you really doing?

Hey Frontend Bluesky what’s the best way to build mobile web apps these days? Trying to stay as close to the web platform as possible with a similar UX

Is there any "branding" yet around what LLMs have done to web application development?

I'm less interested in the "AI changes everything!" rhetoric, and more in the "cacheing has moved from x to y; delegated auth is harder because z; scaling and load balancing needs new patterns a, b and c".

Great talk from the folks at the Center for Humane Technology about AI. Feels like the first time I was able to really “glimpse” where we could be going.

We’re excited to share that IPFS now has an official presence here on @bsky.app! Up until now, IPFS was only on Twitter. As social media continues to change though, we believe being in more than 1 place will be beneficial to the IPFS community & brand. Read more about it on our blog:

Just like our approach to algorithmic choice, our approach to moderation allows for an ecosystem of third-party providers. Moderation should be a composable, customizable piece that can be layered into your experience.

W the developments in ai recently I’ve been thinking about alienation a lot

As everyone does, I have concerns about ai - alignment, misuse, manipulation, job loss, class destruction, etc - but my foremost is around the ensuing alienation.

I can’t see a way that we avoid it
The tyranny of reality & the liberation of no longer having to engage w it.

But if you don’t _need_ to engage w reality you have to _want_ to or you get alienated from it.

But it’s much easier to want to engage w simulations of reality w all the prickles removed than w cold hard reality itself

Upwelling: Combining real-time collaboration with version control for writers.
Collaborative writing tools don’t work well for writers or editors. With Upwelling, we demonstrate a design that gives writers privacy while still offering editors transparency into how a document is changing.

Going to need a “verified human” filter on my feeds. Glad Bluesky and the AT protocol will give me agency in what my online experiences look like. I wonder long term if filtering out AI will be common like ad blocking or seen as technophobic
