The Trump regime wants to dismantle a world leading climate research center. Why? Because the US has become a petrostate where the government has been captured by fossil fuel interests.
They’re calling climate science “green new scam research”, in full denial of reality. 🤯

i'm a very biased party here but pretty much everything about the Mamdani campaign and the discourse around it thus far is a pretty thorough vindication of Africana Studies
It is worth saying that putting “Africana studies” in scare quotes as if it’s a ridiculous concept is not a political argument. It’s just racism. “Africa is not worthy of a major” is the implication. Yeah dude you’re just racist. (From Gerard Baker at the WSJ today)

So, uhm, what's the track record of countries where members of the governing regime start clamoring for a "cleansing" of the political opponent?

Always remember: No matter how much they escalate the rhetoric, it doesn't mean they'll be able to do it. But let's not pretend they aren't trying.
Schmitt: "Let's just call it out. We need a cleansing here. Let's just be truthful about what's happening. This left-wing political violence is not a both sides thing. It's not."

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act.

Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.

If Obama's effort to speak truthfully about the US's role in the world was dubbed "the apology tour," then what Hegseth is doing here is the "That's fucking right. We did that. And we're proud of it. And we'll damn well do it again if we feel like it" tour.
The MAGA monocultural revolution is so thorough that Hegseth made it a priority to honor soldiers who carried out war crimes in 1890.

Important point. Charlie Kirk now receives a lot of praise for engaging in debates, but the reality is he did so in bad faith. He was a demagogue chasing the next viral clip. That is not "debate", and it is telling about the state of democracy that so many people can't see the difference.
I had some thoughts about people saying that "debate me bro" trolling is somehow the height of democratic discourse.

When you declare an idea rather than an organization to be terrorism, you can declare *anyone* a terrorist.

And that is what he will do.

This is horrifying.
