The next screen grab on this thread is perfect.
This really is the pits. This is not a design that — whatever you think of them — Saudi Arabia, the organisers of the 2034 World Cup have anything to do with. Has popped up randomly on social, caught fire and now pushed for attention by the Mail. Pathetic business.

Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved.

Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning.

Electric cargo bikes can replace many everyday car trips for the average family and “reshape suburban family mobility”, say Oxford University researchers. 49 British households were loaned e-cargo bikes for school runs, shopping trips, family outings and other day-to-day use.

If a Labour government with 400 seats which has nailed its colours to the masts of planning reform and the green transition can't steam roller people like this and their ridiculous selfish BS objections, then what on earth is the point of it?
A solar farm that could have powered “all the households in Witney” has been refused permission by West Oxfordshire District Council. Councillors were concerned about the risk of fire, one drawing parallels to the 1966 Aberfan disaster: “Until someone can guarantee it is safe, I can’t support it.”

Banning refugees – people whose asylum claims have been processed by a hostile system and found to be legitimate – from bringing family members has one predictable and awful effect: instead of travelling alone, men will bring their wives and children on small boats, and some will drown.

I've written about this a bunch of times but essentially I think a lot of people struggle to deal with the fact that adult friendships take active work, they're not happy when they're alone but they don't want to actually organise stuff in advance, stick to plans when they can't be bothered, etc etc
The interesting Q for me is why haven't things returned. If most people want more sociability and there are no restrictions on it what it preventing it happening. Money (as Luke says) might be part of it but that doesn't stop people eating their lunch together.
I’ve written for @thespectator1828.bsky.social about people’s stories in focus groups of how they’ve turn inward and become less social since the pandemic and the risk it leaves us lonelier, more isolated less cohesive and less open to new experiences. www.spectator.co.uk/article/were...

One thing that struck me about yesterday's #TheTraitors was the number of them obsessing about "how can I still be here?" and "someone close must be protecting me" without any scrap of self-awareness that it might be because they haven't been playing the game well enough to either recruit or murder.
