I found something fascinating in Paul Stillwell's biography of Willis Lee. As part of his training, Lee had a training cruise on Farragut's Civil War flagship, Hartford.

Some of his classmates had the opportunity to do a training cruise on Dewey's flagship Olympia.

One day it struck me that the Persian Empire fought the ancient Greeks, Rome, and Byzantine Empire - that's an extensive run - so I'm looking to learn more about the early Persian Empire.

I have limited knowledge of Longstreet's Knoxville campaign, so I'm appreciating having Earl Hess as my guide.

As an added bonus, I purchased this book from a museum bookstore, so helping to support a good cause.

As an added bonus, it was signed by the author.

In reading about the naval battles around Guadalcanal, certain ships stood out for me, such as the Sweet P and USS Atlanta.

I'm enjoying this history of the Atlanta.

New from me, Pt. 2: Two years ago, the Carolina #Panthers had a bottom-3 offensive line.

Now, they have the depth that can sustain an injury or two and the talent to protect the QB:

Dunn argues there were 3 100 day periods in the FDR presidency that jumpstarted key initiatives - including one for military mobilization.
