I'm a longtime fan of Not Just Bikes, but his 95(!) minute video on John Forester and Vehicular Cycling is truly his magnum opus.

If you are even remotely interested in the history of bicycling in America, it is worth a watch.

Vital piece of investigative reporting from Sky. They've uncovered the X algorithm which feeds users extremist right wing material from the moment they join the site. It is a far-right radicalisation engine, by design.

Watching the denial of the political right about the far right's danger being so much worse than that of their left opposites / similars does help to understand what happened in Germany in 1933 (when Soviet communism was a genuine threat)

This is important.

Years ago, while I was advising the City of Sydney Australia on various things, there was an INFAMOUS day where a particularly bad state-level minister of roads was stuck in traffic and saw bike riders zooming by his limousine in a well-used, safe, protected bike-lane.

Well…

RFK Jr’s latest interview isn’t just about vaccines, it's a great example of how disordered discourse reaches government policy. It shows the perversion of the core democratic functions of Verification, Deliberation & Accountability (VDA).
1. "'Trusting the experts is not a feature of either a science or democracy," Kennedy said."

It's literally a vital feature of both science and of representative democracy.

I've written a fair bit about trust in expertise as a vital mechanism in the collective epistemology of science.

HHS Secretary RFK Jr. sat down with Scripps News for a wide-ranging interview, discussing mRNA vaccine funding policy changes and a recent shooting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

The US has pulled out of NATO training exercises in Europe, stressing that its focus has now moved to Asia.

Whatever the fine print says, America is no longer in NATO. It won’t come to signatories’ aid.

The sooner that’s grasped, the sooner everyone else can move forward with actual allies.
