If this is not reversed quickly, there is a real risk that young members harm themselves because of this decision. Imagine being stripped of your community as a teenage trans girl already dealing with so much in the current environment. Unforgivable.

One heartening thing I'm keeping in mind - I actually found out about this via a video of a unit leader who was upset and saying she would ignore this rule. The comments were also full of other leaders saying they would ignore this. This rule is horrible but leaders know what's up.

I can’t imagine having my six year old separated from me and incarcerated at all, let alone not knowing where they would be. This is child abuse and as a trauma therapist, these children will be greatly impacted, perhaps for the rest of their lives. My heart is breaking for every person impacted.
