Kelly Reichardt's The Mastermind is terrific, especially the way it uses the heist genre - fave of centrist dads everywhere - to skewer this one particular unaffiliated, uncaring, self-obsessed, self-aggrandising centrist dad, perfectly played by Josh O'Connor. The ending is just perfect.

Keir Starmer’s government has been told it has “alienated rural people” as traditional Boxing Day hunts gathered across the UK ahead of plans to ban trail hunting.

It took a while to work out what WAKE UP DEAD MAN reminded me of, and it finally dawned on my that it’s ancient Radio 4 comedy LITTLE BLIGHTY ON THE DOWN, in which topical events were satirically allegorised via the denizens of a small rural community.

I thought of this very joke earlier today, and thought of posting it, but at the back of my mind I had vague rumblings that I had already done it, and yep there it is exactly one year ago.
This was quite expensive but very nice and is the only tinned negroni I have had which tastes like a real one.
