When Musk’s role in govt or in FAA oversight was under consideration, perhaps it was fair to say “raising concerns about conflicts.” When he announced SpaceX would redesign the ATC system, that was at least a clear conflict. Now they’re buying SpaceX products to do it, it is just plain corruption.

The FAA has agreed to use SpaceX's Starlink internet system to upgrade the IT networks it uses to manage US airspace, raising new concerns about conflicts of interest for CEO Elon Musk in one of his other roles, that of recommending funding cuts at federal agencies, including the FAA. cnn.it/436qirE

The federal government *regularly* spends money to encourage behavior it couldn’t compel directly. Like paying states to build roads or fund healthcare for those who can’t afford it.

It’s called the Spending Clause—and it’s the very first enumerated power that the Constitution gives to Congress.

Actual serious countries that are democracies require someone to be a government employee, & confirmed by the parliament, in order to conduct foreign policy. We, however, don’t seem to any longer care about the law, constitution, or democratic accountability, bc we are a deeply unserious country.

Andre Braugher was a giant, as capable of being the most intense dramatic actor TV had ever seen as he was of being among its most sublimely silly comic performers. I wrote about Frank Pembleton, Raymond Holt, and everything in beween:
Andre Braugher Played Two of TV’s Greatest Cops. But His Family Came First
Star of ‘Homicide’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ who passed away at the age of 61, could do it all, and would then race home to his loved ones.
