If you ever watched AFN or its predecessors there were (and maybe still are) literal breaks on tv where they would tell you not to blab about where you or your unit were going to be at any given time because anyone could be listening. It was drilled in to your head even as a civilian!
Back when I was in the Army you'd get wall to wall counciling if you posted your convoy SP time on facebook but F-18 strike packages aren't classified
