TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Yep, no government shutdown has ever affected SNAP before - they do not HAVE to do this. They are choosing to.
And yes, as someone who relies on SNAP to live - I still don't want the Dems to fold. I want the GOP to do their fucking jobs.

I wish they said explicitly that there's $5 billion in emergency reserves they're refusing to use instead they're happy to let people - mostly children, the disabled, and elderly, starve.

Fun fact: at some point several people’s names were patched OUT of Destiny 2’s credits. People who worked on that game and were credited accordingly, were, for some reason, subsequently removed.

Pikmin have a scruff on the back of their neck, just like a cat. This is how the captains can pick them up so easily. It doesn’t appear painful at all, and considering how Pikmin yearn to be thrown, they seem to like it.
