Our little mumming-inspired folk play entity is going to perform at Northwest Folklife in May!
The plays are very short, DIY, and easy enough for anyone in the community to get involved.
Hoping to have some fun and inspire folks to make art in their communities with what they have available.

This is a Cheez-It tree.
My little nephew was told to pick a piece of produce for lunch, but kept asking for Cheez-Its. We went back and forth, then he disappeared and reappeared, presenting me with this incontrovertible evidence that Cheez-Its are in-fact produce.

Leaving the cool, rainy mountains for the burning hot edge of the Great Plains caused my child heart and body a great deal of grief and panic.
Even as an unwilling invader, countless oaks and chirping, buzzing creatures lent me comfort.
The woods welcomed me, so long as I respected the place.

I haven't seen any conversation about how to make local community when you're actually afraid of your neighbors. The posts I usually see are about a general social anxiety, and not "I am afraid my neighbors may be transphobes".
The small town I grew up in ran me out for my religion and being queer
"Build a new society?" My brother in Christ, you cannot even build a relationship with your neighbor.

Bsky is... not fun.
I know the world is on fire, but we're going to need to remember what we want and what's good about being alive.
Just reacting to horror ain't it.

shoutout to horny elves
Elves sometimes need songs to wake them in summer according to premodern Icelandic tradition, and it must be women to sing it, coaxing them and their desires. Without elves, nothing will grow, so women sowing seeds sing to coax the elves to fertility. #FolkyFriday

If you haven't heard my "serial killers are just violent misogynists and treating them like masterminds is tired" rant, now you have.
Fictional Serial Killers: I am a sophisticated and cultured genius who has fixated on a mytho-cultural fetish which drives my horrible work.
Real Serial Killers: I hate women and kill sex workers and the homeless because cops don't care about them.
