Being a huge history nerd, it truly does make me appreciate how radical and enlightened modern liberalism is when compared to the rest of the thousands of history of humanity.

Truly the greatest of human ideals.

If this were in a domestic situation, we'd all identify it as pretty clearly an abusive relationship.
I actually winced at this part 😬 yeesh:

“Despite his sometimes strident and sometimes even violent rhetoric about the press, he loves talking to us,” the print reporter said. “And his team—they like talking to us, and they know that they’re going to have a huge audience.”

If I were in charge of the DNC, I’d track every violent offense committed by Trump’s pardonees, and Willie Horton the fuck out of it in every upcoming election where it might matter.

If you work a bar and a Yank turns up, you ask them how they voted as you hand them their pint.

If they say Trump, you spit in their drink.

For those Colorado residents who might be interested, the iconic Black & Read location in Arvada has a huge Moving Sale going on where they knock off an additional 20% in addition to everything else they've got going on.

The sale lasts until the 25th of January, so don't wait!

We are sad to announce that we have been told by Wizards that they will no longer support us with either funding or invites to Organized Play events.

Without this support - especially the invites - it is impossible for us to continue, and there will be no more VML seasons going forward.

Really remarkable how Republicans effectively took over every social media platform in a relatively short period- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram/Threads, TikTok

They recognized the value of owning the platform and went straight after that goal

Democrats didn’t even really realize it was happening

Rough couple days for the Constitution:

Friday: Surprise—we have a new amendment!
Saturday: We’re not enforcing the law. We’ll let the new guy do it.
Sunday: I’m the new guy! And I’m not enforcing the law.
Monday: Pardons for everyone!
Monday: lol, birthright citizenship

None of them are "my president," because that's inappropriate language in a republic for the head of one co-equal branch. "God Save Our Queen," but *the* Chief Justice, *the* Speaker of the House, *the* President Pro-Tem of the Senate, *the* President of the US. It only means *presiding officer.*

The insistence that we must "end the recitations of preferred pronouns" is not peculiar once you realize how far removed from liberal arguments they are.

We have to go all the way back to shoring up the rejection of collectivism, arguing that individual self-conceptions and actions can be private.
Liberal assumptions
If we don't assume liberal premises hold, our arguments have to get deeper

This morning's pardons by an outgoing president set a terrible precedent, justified only by unprecedented threats from an incoming president, which is precisely how things fall apart.

"Let's have a normal, respectful transition" but also "pre-emptively pardon the Chair of the Joint Chiefs and multiple Members of Congress because the incoming President might lock them up on trumped-up charges". It's giving mixed messages.
BREAKING: President Biden just pardoned:

* General Mark Milley
* Dr. Anthony Fauci
* Jan. 6 Committee members of Congress and staffers
* The police officers who testified before the Jan. 6 Committee

Biden says these pardons are not an acknowledgment of wrongdoing.

Three things that remain true, no matter what Trump does:

1) Trans people have as much right to express their identities with dignity as anyone else.

2) Immigrants are awesome, create wealth, and make our culture better.

3) Trade with people around the world enriches us, and not just financially.
