I need a historian's opinion. @hcrichardson.bsky.social Is it unfair to blame Mitch McConnell for the state of the country? First he blocked Obama's SCOTUS pick 11 months before election day then 4 years later rammed through Trump's pick 2 weeks before election day. I cannot forgive him for that.

A corrupt banker was being prosecuted for bribery, so his daughter donated $2.5M to Trump's super PAC—and suddenly, Trump's DOJ overruled career prosecutors and let him off with a fucking misdemeanor.

It’s crazy how easy it is to bribe these people.

In Georgia, a mom facing eviction reached out to DFCS for help. They offered her nothing. Soon the agency took her kids away because of "inadequate housing."

The state then paid *$6,200 a month* to house her kids in foster care.

One of the most important and infuriating stories I read this year:
When Families Need Housing, Georgia Will Pay for Foster Care Rather Than Provide Assistance
In more than 700 cases over five years, Georgia reported inadequate housing as the sole reason for taking a child into foster care, a WABE and ProPublica analysis found. Advocates say it would be chea...

It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines.

It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States.

And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

Trump has now conducted 28 boat strikes, killing over 100 people.

Remember: no judge or jury has found these boats were trafficking drugs. We're simply taking Trump's word for it.

He’s unilaterally acting as judge, jury, and executioner.

This is a danger to us all.
