Schrödinger's Hater
Like people on here are fighting about "did Trump voters vote for this" and the answer simply is neither yes or no. They did vote for it by casting their vote for him if they knew that or not! But they also did not necessarily consciously chose this exact policy implementation.

Here’s to hoping that foreign leaders telling Trump to fuck off births a whole new cross-cultural inter-lingual literary genre.

So which would be more brutal: Giving the Nobel Prize to Trump for this, or giving it to Biden?

I just put on a movie because Prime told me it was being removed in 19 minutes. Thing is, I’m not concerned that I’m vulnerable to such suasion; I’m worried that I’m feeling combative with a technology platform.

Has “Wow, here’s the shit I got way wrong this year” replacing New Year’s Resolutions this year?

This might actually be an improvement.

ever since I started making seltzer at home I get to steal a little valor every time I swap my CO2 tank at the local gas supply place. standing in line with the tradesmen refilling tanks for their welders and getting up to the counter to be like, I can only drink water with little bubbles in it

Pack it up. It was fun while it lasted, but everything’s gotta go now. Bulldoze the ashes and turn the lights off on your way out.
Cool how Google image search automatically returns AI garbage now. I was looking for a picture of Beaker from the Muppets.

Agreed. Problem: liberalism (small-L) tends towards dissolving the bonds of affinities people feel with respect to such groups, them being un-natural impositions on one's liberty. If said groups are important for the actual politics of promoting liberal policies (They are.) then there is a tension.
This is why I think the meso-level of democracy is so important, you really do need intermediary groups that transform something like fiscal policy into something legible to them. I think a lot of the problems with The Groups (derogatory) stem from them not really being member based anymore.
We have Id democracy, but people clearly actually want superego democracy! They hate populism even as they vote for it. Take their expressed preferences seriously, don’t just go by revealed preferences!

Some say the word "hero" is thrown around only too casually these days, but, sometimes, occasionally, you still hear about an act...

Autocracy never works out for other people, but I think I could do it. I think I could unilaterally control all levers of power responsibly and benevolently.

The people would love my rule.

Dungeon Masters: My players are goofy murderhobos who don’t take RP seriously. Their characters don’t act like real people.

History: In 1630, a band of mercenaries came the village of Shitwaldberg, killed everyone, took their stuff, adopted a pig named Hans, and wrote a drinking song about it.
