I have approximately zero following on this app, sharing in the hopes it can get in front of the right person. A man I went to college with’s wife was kidnapped by ICE at a green card hearing, and he’s trying to find a reporter who will speak to him about the situation

I think it’s worth noting this piece generated the most unsubscribes I’ve seen in a while, and the newsletter version had the lowest open rate in many months. These horrors persist in part because too many people go to great pains to avoid them.

Just painful the time and energy that needs to be spent in order to glacially edge towards better terms with the EU…to get back, bit by bit and so slowly, what our govt threw away in its rush to pretend the EU was to blame for its own failures.
Chipping away at an endless debt to the truth.

Far from being in peril, Brexit is safer than before; rather than castigating him, Brexiteers should thank him.

Brexit is likely to be more enduring. Brexiteers should take the win, for they have got, more or less, what they wanted.

The UK-India trade deal does *not* make it cheaper and easier for a number of major companies based in the UK to employ Indian workers. That is a fundamental, elementary misconception. Visa cap stays, and you have to be seconded within an Indian company. The rest is just... lies.

Here's something I wrote trying to explain why Brexit still isn't 'done' and the true implications of leaving the SM/CU. I had help from an expert kind enough to explain things properly to me. It's something I'm hoping to do a lot more with, and hope it's useful. centralbylines.co.uk/news/brexit/...

In case you missed it ...
On the night of the Brexit ref in 2016, as the result came in, this young woman was asked how she felt. Her mixture of anger, grief, shame, shock and despair spoke for millions of us. Everything she feared might happen came true. In Britain, and now in the USA.

⬆️💷NHS dental charges in England rise today.

Not a penny of this hike will go towards expanding access or improving your care.

It's simply providing cover for cuts in government funding.

According to MAGA, if you hit a car with a baseball bat because you don’t like the company’s owner you’re a “terrorist”, but if you hit a Capitol police officer with a baseball bat because you don’t like the results of an election, you’re a “patriot.”

Do I have that just about right?

Not surprisingly, Trump’s overall tax and tariff proposals would make the very rich much richer and working families poorer.

If you earn less than $360,000 a year, your taxes are going to go way up.

If you’re in the top 1%? Don’t worry. You’ll save big.
