BREAKING: We’re expanding Ground Truth nationwide—an innovative initiative to transform how Democrats connect with voters.

It’s how we rebuild trust & win in 2026 & beyond. We’re starting earlier, knocking every door in swing districts, & gathering rich data we’re sharing directly with campaigns.

honestly if there is any single idea i could get people to understand it is this one. or to put it differently, the same features of the american party system that allows a mamdani to win a prize like the NYC mayoral primary also makes any top down control or disciplining very difficult
Yeah, despite popular ideas of the "powerful" 2-party system, US parties are weak! Their strongest power is their ability to merely /conduct/ primary elections, but have much less ability in steering who front-runs or wins those elections.

I’m not sure how many times this has to happen for people to get it.
Not gonna pretend like I know anything about Carney’s politics because I don’t, but I watched his speech yesterday and he essentially told Trump to fuck off and now Trump’s speaking about him with a modicum of respect.

I feel like there’s a lesson in there somewhere.
Trump drops the demeaning "governor" stuff and calls Carney by his correct title

The fight going on in the Democratic Party right now is not between hard left, left and moderate. It’s between those who want to fight and those who want to cave. And Team Fight stretches across all ideological aspects of the Party. Misread this at your own peril.

Been thinking about what the defining cultural product of the Biden era is and I think it's Apple TV. Quality product that seems incapable of marketing itself outside of niche elite audiences, meanwhile Netflix runs circles around it with shows about whether something is cake.

i have written about this before but i have become extremely civic republican virtue pilled as a result of all of this. democracy will not work without an active effort to cultivate virtue among ordinary people!
trump is unique in that his depravity creates the very cynicism he feeds on. it is necessary to uphold the idea that we are capable of better even if that belief is counterfactual. which is why we need to tell the bureaucracy that their work is valued and that they are holding the line for us.
Taking the President's symbolic roles as essentially being the central rituals of American civic religion, Trump's inability to perform them- to actually be presidential- signals that the civic religion is hollow and without power, that there are no consequences for blaspheming it.

A thread for those who think we're going to be importing lots of hydrogen over vast distances.

1. Shipping liquid hydrogen is not going to be a thing. To understand why, you need to understand that hydrogen is basically liquid, -253C escapey, explodey expanded polystyrene.

Writing is thinking.

It’s not a part of the process that can be skipped; it’s the entire point.
This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.
I'm sure many have said this before but I'm reading a student-facing document about how students might use AI in the classroom (if allowed) and one of the recs is: use AI to make an outline of your reading! But ISN'T MAKING THE OUTLINE how one actually learns?

As discussed, Trump can't end birthright citizenship with an executive order. If he finds a judge that says he can, then without new constitutional language and statutes literally everyone's citizenship is up in the air. Because apart from people who are naturalized, everyone's citizenship is ...

OK- here we go. Sorry for the delay, I was not prepared for the exertion required in the thrill-a-minute adventure that is… CACAO FERMENTATION.

Yes, this will actually take 5 days. After that two days of drying. I’m not making this up. Nothing happens. Really. You’ll see.

Anyway, off we go!

Seems like people wanna talk about all the locked-up stuff at chain pharmacies and big box stores today. Here’s a gift link to a feature I published a few months ago about why retailers started putting so much stuff behind plexiglass and how badly it’s backfired. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
Retailers Locked Up Their Products—and Broke Shopping in America
CVS, Target and other chains have barricaded everything from toiletries to cleaning supplies. It’s backfired in almost every way.
