Long ago on the hell site I made long list of historically interesting things to use in dnd ttrpgs and I'll start dragging them over here starting with

2000 years-old sapphire ring presumably belonged to Roman emperor Caligula, depicting his fourth wife Caesonia.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

This is the weirdest fandom I've ever seen because you will have full on cosplayers saying they hate the show in cosplay, while perfectly lipsyncing the lyrics. I don't understand why so many of you have such an aversion to admitting you're a fan of a piece of media as if its a moral failing.

The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.

literally bigots on all platforms would have dramatically less reach if we weren't utterly obsessed with finding their content explicitly to dunk on it.

I get it, I do, as a Former Dunkee I get it!

but like a fire-without oxygen it fucking dies. Deprive them of oxygen!
Transphobes would have a lot less reach on here if everyone stopped arguing with them and quoting their posts to dunk on them, they don't give a rat's ass about your arguments and enjoy wasting your time.

I won’t pretend I influence, but as someone originally from Texas, please help prevent it from becoming more of a hell state than it already is. This shit will hit everything from Dress Up Darling to Dragon Ball and tons of queer media. They wont stop at Just Texas. Your freedoms are at stake. FIGHT

Becuase if one goes on about a lack of choices… then you’re just not being truthful which makes me rather uninterested in reading anything else they have to say.

But I guess it’s kick a game while it’s down day. BioWare in disarray is a story that gets clicks, it’s how the game is played. *sigh*

Same. As a fan of it; it’s hard.

I’m so tired of this discourse, especially as it’s tied into a framework that feels fundamentally dishonest, baked over via online hot-takes, and sent out to an audience with a wink and grin.

I have no desire to relitigate what I witnessed with my own eyes.

A game received solid reviews and then got mauled by an online backlash that was aided by the right wing cultural turn of the moment.

That this all morphed into a conventional wisdom of “failure” is why I don’t take much online gaming discourse especially seriously. Shallow and crowd driven.

We know what happened. We've read it dozens of times. Let's celebrate that we got a game as polished as it was, as amazing as it was, as emotional as it.

Devs, we love you. We appreciate everything you've done. Dragon Age has wormed its way into our hearts and we are happy its there.

Reposting without comment except: I refute that we made a bad or compromised game. We made the best version of what we released, warts and all. I'm damn proud of it and the team. We couldn't have made a _better_ Dragon Age, only a _different_ one.
NEW: What went wrong with Dragon Age: The Veilguard? Why was the writing so tonally inconsistent? Why did it feel so shallow? Why were there so few choices?

Really, after ten years of turbulence, it was a miracle that anything came out at all. This is the story: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

the worst part is that those issues were called out almost immediately, and the choice was made to push on.

this strategy backed the team into an impossible situation from the start, and it was a miracle we shipped at all, nevermind shipping at the quality we did.

our narrative team were heroes.

Re: the newest Scherier article

The main takeaway I want everyone to get is that EA and BW wanted the DAV devs to magically move mountains after EA/BW made bad decisions, and parts of the fandom/general public decided the best course of action was to verbally abuse the devs! Way to go kids!

“Caitie- youre still upset?”

Actually yeah- I’ll probably die mad! A bunch of cool artists and devs were tossed to the lions and flipped off. How is that not upsetting? This isnt about ‘no more DA’. This is about the human cost people forget and willfully ignore all for a bit of money.
