whilst you and I struggle with imposter syndrome
SCOOP — Gregg Phillips, a conspiracy theorist with no emergency management experience who helped produce the election-denying documentary ‘2000 Mules’ with Dinesh D’Souza and has faced numerous legal inquiries, has been named head of FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery.

My story:
Conspiracy theorist election denier given FEMA’s second-most important role
Gregg Phillips will lead the Office of Response and Recovery, “the heart of what FEMA does.”

The amount of time I have to talk about segregation these days is disorienting
Higher education is on the front like of the new lost cause. Far right groups are using what they see as public concerns about the relevance and cost of higher education to wage a segregationist campaign to return the US to pre-civil rights conditions. Albeit with less freedom within universities.

This Georgia flip is in a district that the GOP drew to drown Democratic voters in Athens into a neighboring red county, Oconee.

But tonight, Dems in Athens were out in FULL FORCE to swamp that gerrymander.

Nothing to see here, just the President of the United States having absolutely no idea who he is pardoning, nor why.
POLITICO: You pardoned the former president of Honduras even though he was convicted in a massive intl drug trafficking scheme. How is that 0 tolerance on drug trafficking?

TRUMP: Well I don't know him and I know very little about him other than people said it was like an Obama-Biden type set up

I want capital to understand what is happening here.

A company with much more capital offered a higher bid than a rival bidder was willing or able to match.

Now the rival bidder is attempting to undercut the deal with a worse price on grounds of ideology and closeness with a lawless regime.
This is just how we do mergers now.

"Paramount executives also plan to argue their deal will have a much shorter regulatory approval process given the company’s smaller size and friendly relationship with the Trump administration."

I still think the framework of the Constitution grants the MOST power to Congress of the three branches, which makes sense also as the closest representation of the people, and it’s extraordinary how the modern US has upended this to make it the weakest in practice.

One thing about "original intent" is that the original Constitution was so hostile to the President that their rival was made Vice President, but now we have SCOTUS "originalists" happily giving the President absolute power over everything.*

* So long as they're a Republican.
the whole structure of this argument — independent agencies are politically unaccountable therefore the president must have removal power — treats congress as if it were a total nullity, or as if only the president truly represents the public.

The thing about court reform that I wish prominent Democrats would understand is that it is not hard. Just start making noise about the Justices' lawlessness and corruption and they will fall in line. You don't have to get all the way to enacted legislation to push them off their nonsense.

They are running the government according to the logic of right-wing grievance media. I cannot emphasize that enough. The point is to create content, and they don't see an actual difference between dunking on Sabrina Carpenter, passing legislation, and bombing other countries.
I don't really know what the administration hopes to gain by picking fights with the most well-liked pop artists in the United States. You're just generating backlash for no discernible reason outside of owning the libs.
Sabrina Carpenter ratioed the White House after it used her song in an ICE video.
