This is interesting drama to follow lol

TLDR, the people who made the AI coke commercial are denying it and generating fake concept art, actual concept artists are ripping it all apart as fake because the guy has no idea how any of this works
The disconnected Apple Pencil? The expression sheet with all the same expression? The art with the footsteps in the snow in front of the characters running? The file with one (1) background layer? Erasing the “hand drawn” background by hand on said one (1) layer file? Where do I starttttttt
They did! It’s amazing (derogatory)

It's 2025, and we are raising a petition so that children can go to the toilet at school, but here we are. (For those not in the UK, yes, this is real, and as stupid and cruel as it seems.)

Please do sign:

Petition: Require schools to let children use the toilet at all times in the school day
Make it mandatory for schools to allow students to go to the toilet at all times throughout the school day when they need to and do not lock toilets so that they aren’t accessible during certain times...

One of the most common arguments you hear from fans of generative ‘AI’ is that it’s not plagiarizing people’s work, it’s just learning like a human learns. So I’m going to break down why that’s just not true, and why it can never be true, with the existing systems. 1/

When someone started tampering with Tylenol bottles in 1982 the company recalled $100 million worth of bottles immediately even though they clearly weren't at fault
an appropriate response to your product killing a child after months of psychological manipulation and torture is to take the product off the market before it kills again and the fact that this isn’t universally accepted right now is incredibly frightening

openai promises a chatgpt model with 'research grade intelligence' (if you pay them $200 a month). what they don't tell you is that it's the "research" capability of a 4th grader

Stripe’s tagline is “Make progress”, yet they are reportedly censoring LGBT content.

They want to control what people think/consume, but they can’t even recognise when their (prob gen AI) advert has installed a zip-slider on wrong, making said zip functionally useless.

Let’s not listen to them.

I started writing something important to me tonight. Not really sure what it is, but I’ll share the end of it. Watching the tech industry do what it’s doing sickens me, and I want people to know why.

Shameful bullish. What's done incalculable damage is a decade of pernicious falsehoods about immigration, while people who should know better refuse to counter the lies of the increasingly normalised far right.

Let's tackle those lies:

it's really funny watching politics these days because really the big schism in the US and UK is between people who are hopelessly addicted to managed decline and people who ejaculate over unmanaged decline

Yeah, it's starting to seem like they really, truly just do not GAF about copyright and aren't afraid to show it
In older versions, ChatGPT would refuse the “studio ghibli” prompts because of IP. Now it will straight up insert you into Spirited Away if you ask it to.

On theme of AI companies pulling back guardrails in recent months.

it's ghastly to generate placeholder art instead of doing shitty rough drawings, which are in fact the best drawings
Placeholder AI art fails any test of creativity or efficiency even in professional settings. What value does genAI have over sketches or reference? Why use slop for inspiration over the art it stole? How is prompting an AI easier than a person? AI taints the whole pipeline. bsky.app/profile/farf...
Taking a hardline stance against a computer making some creative decisions but allowing it to do the parts you're unskilled at is exactly how the whole space gets taken over

please, please read this. the employee abuse thats been uncovered here is distressing. this needs to be spread to every corner of the games industry
Back in 2021, PMG reported on the unseen games industry crunch taking place at outsourcing studios in SE Asia.

Since then, the companies we looked at have continued to work on some of the biggest games in the world, without any push to improve the conditions of the artists doing that work. (1/7)
