It's also about the importance of emotional promiscuity, and heavily focuses on the internal work and understanding required for less rigid frameworks for relationships. There's a lot of reflective exercises that felt better suited to a therapeutic relationship. I liked it a lot.
This wasn't entirely new territory for me, as someone who used to read a lot of books on nonmonogamy and Spade's last book "Mutual Aid." This blended a lot of elements from both but isn't just a guide for open relationships.
