Canadian economy rallies as #1 export now Heated Rivalry
OTTAWA - Canada's economy, which has spent the year reeling due to American tariffs, is finishing the year strong thanks to the country's new chief export, the gay hockey-romance drama Heated Rivalry.

I am an avowed romance fan, but the women in this screenshot (and there are many people saying similar things on threads) are just honestly so fucking dumb. Please be fucking serious. Heated Rivalry is a TV show, not a *coming out manual for men playing pro sports.*
Again, I truly *loved* this week’s episode of Heated Rivalry, but IT IS A WISH FULFILLMENT ROMANCE. The success of a gay hockey romance TV show, largely watched by people who are neither hockey players nor hockey fans, is not “proof that the world is ready and all we would do is love you”

This is a very good thread

And while I do think the fact that a couple of big hockeybro *podcasts* have engaged earnestly & enthusiastically with the show is all sorts of interesting, it would be a mistake to conflate that with, like, an ~awakening within the NHL itself

Once again a reminder: We can have trans rights, bodily autonomy, gender nonconformity, and freedom of expression, or we can have none of these things.

There’s no third option.

Lord, please never let me be hated by someone as skilled as that Vanity Fair photographer. Let all my haters be incompetent.

The photographer might need to go into witness protection because he just blew ALL their shit up, lol. A master work.
Marco Rubio just straight up looks like a sad divorced man at a Motel 6.

Oh my god y'all I had not seen the rest of the Vanity Fair photos holy shit. Christopher Anderson deserves a medal.

Look at this. He left the LIGHT SWITCHES in the edited photos! These assholes look like their well-meaning mom took a picture of them on their first day in a grown-up job.

I went to high school with him and his brother Shuja. In the way of things I lost touch, and my biggest memory is that time he taught a class (as a high schooler, to us high schoolers) on French new wave film. I wish I could’ve known him when we were both adults. What an immeasurable loss

Steve isn’t here anymore, but he always posted this picture on Hanukkah so I thought we could carry on his tradition and remember him.
Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

the rant bubbling up inside me about publishers demanding rights they have no intention (or sometimes ability) to exploit is.... whew
My only comment is that the fastest way to get these books in print would be for Rachel Reid to request print rights back on all books not in print.

I’m trying NOT to be a menace and bring all my favorite Heated Rivalry edits over here, but I HAVE to share this one because it’s better than the actual trailer.

This is Charles Clyde Ebbets, the photographer who took the iconic “Lunch atop a Skyscraper” picture. Look at this fearless, dapper fuck wearing spats, suspenders, and a tie 850 feet above the ground. Absolute legend.
Here he is taking the photo.

Harlequin's statement is a truly incredible lukewarm word salad that addresses none of the concerns of readers and the author in why the paperback of Heated Rivalry is out of stock everywhere.

Enraging and embarrassing.
NEW: It’s not just readers that suffer due to Harlequin’s mismanagement of the' Heated Rivalry' books. Reid misses out on royalties, & booksellers miss out on commissions—which is especially painful during the holiday season when many small businesses make the bulk of their money.
was ‘heated rivalry’ failed by its publisher?
everyone's devouring the new TV series, so why can't people buy a copy of the book the show is based on?

Here is your Wednesday Weevil, waving. It's a broad-nosed weevil, (unsure of the species), that I spotted on a dirt road in the mountains of Colombia in '23. I initially moved to pick it up because I thought it was a small piece of trash, like a bit of shiny candy wrapper. 🐙🌿📷 #BugSky
