Fossil fuels are the source material for most plastics + for the chemicals added to them. As firms lose their iron grip on energy production, indications are they're shifting to using oil + gas for plastic production, which has more than doubled since 2000 + looks set rise 40% in the next 10 years.

👀 While the fossil fuel industry sells carbon capture as a means of “cleaning up” their carbon emissions, more than 70% of captured carbon is used to extract more oil.

What is the big deal? #CarbonCapture could worsen the #ClimateCrisis.

Polluters push carbon capture and storage as a means of trapping their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, transporting them, and burying them underground.

The technology is:
👿 dangerous,
👿 expensive, and
👿 proven to fail.

😱 The high number of #CCS lobbyists at #COP30 highlights the large amounts of energy and power the fossil fuel industry is investing to secure its future by selling the idea that governments and companies can 'clean' their use of coal, oil, and gas by capturing and 'managing' emissions.

At least 531 lobbyists for groups that advocate for a misguided technology that prolongs #FossilFuel use (aka Carbon Capture & Storage #CCS) have gained access to the #COP30 climate talks.

With all the recent intense rainfall, many parts of the woods are gloriously full of water.

The forests, bogs, + other wild habitats we've removed once retained colossal amounts of water, preventing flooding downstream.

Between that and climate breakdown, we're creating a perfect storm for floods.

This is exactly what we’ve been saying for months and have the evidence to back it up. Unlike the government who have zero evidence or justification for their approach. They are basically destroying what’s left of our wildlife to line the pockets of the big housing companies.
This is what many of us have been saying. Part 3 of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill is based on a myth: that we don't have enough homes because wildlife and green spaces are protected. It will solve nothing, and inflict terrible harm on our remaining ecosystems
