What Trump said about Rob Reiner is just trolling anyway. He wants all the attention on himself and, as an added bonus, for the conversation to be dumbed down to focus solely on his social media incendiary bullshit. I'm really just sick of giving the guy what he wants.

you will have a better life if you don’t assume everyone is playing 4D chess all the time. you will get taken advantage of sometimes and other times you’ll just be plumb wrong and embarrassed as shit about it. small price to pay for fending off the most deranging paranoia

tbh, even if they become less profitable, as long as it's an affordable form of entertainment, I think there's always gonna be demand for movie theaters. people need a reason to go out, parents need something to take their kids to, and movies are just so fucking good.

Anyway stop using spotify and become a Bandcamp weirdo

Tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday and they waive all fees so 100% of what you pay goes to the artists

That Spotify "music age" thing is so weird to me. "Oh well you couldn't ever enjoy music from a different time unless you're old, just listen to our algorithms and never think for yourself again."

we are well past the point at which anyone who cannot identify bad faith like this is disqualified from commenting on it

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

A haunting, urgent piece about a woman who counts the number of women murdered by men in the US and how profound an exercise it is.

Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have many things in common, including that all are war mongers but have supporters who are totally oblivious to this and deny it.

As a centrist, I think Donald Trump is bad, but the political and economic conditions that enabled him to become president twice are good

This new STRANGER THINGS stuff is just so joyless. Every second is taken up by plot exposition. Everything is over an hour long and full of speechifying about how this fictional world is going to end, which just isn't that interesting of a story really.

WAKE UP DEAD MAN was a lot of fun. Better than the last KNIVES OUT movie for sure. Rian Johnson is one of these guys who gets how to do a good crowd-pleaser... just enough depth that it's not talking down to you, and some great actors having fun with it.

This BEAST IN ME show on Netflix is getting good - it's kind of dumb in the way a lot of schlocky crime thrillers are, but it's a good kind of dumb.

It's crazy that RFK is just destroying our whole science and medicine infrastructure and there's a whole class of media just focused on this affair he had with some dumb piece of shit "journalist" and her even grosser, bigger loser of an ex husband. Just bread and circuses.

It's really something how this whole corporate media circle just keeps taking up all the air in the room
She is literally doing a book tour for her memoir about her affair. The publisher is Simon & Schuster

This Netflix show THE BEAST IN ME is pretty good so far. First 30 minutes were kind of whatever, but then it started to pique my interest more. It's pretty mainstream-leaning, but it's the good kind of that. Alluring and dark.

Laughing at Donald Trump saying he'd definitely feel comfortable living in Zohran Mamdani's New York on the same day that half the consultant brain-poisoned Democratic party voted to condemn socialism

These kinds of discussions are a bit interesting really. Like yeah what this person describes is a true small town, true boonies in the middle of nowhere etc. I've lived in some places between that and a bigger city. Not often in a huge metro area.
I get so tickled by the HUNDREDS of movies about people from the big city who find their life's fulfillment by accidentally getting stuck in a small town for the holidays. And that small town has all the perfect people and places for them to be happy.

As someone who grew up in a small town. . .

This movie VICIOUS was pretty crazy. All of Bertino's stuff is so purely dark and nihilistic, and seems to all be based on "what if horrific stuff happened to people for absolutely no reason." I kind of admire how hard he goes for it, actually, even if this one wasn't the best written.

Nobody else is doing this stuff Luca Guadagnino is doing. Three wild swings of movies so far. Maybe I ought to go back and watch that SUSPIRIA remake again.

This is an interesting piece. It's a weird movie really. I thought it had an almost fairytale quality to it, but then again, you can't ignore the racial blind spots that comes with. Well-made and powerful stuff but it treats race with this broad brush. Good piece here.

Wow what a bunch of self-serving whiny bootlicking garbage
Felt the need to share my journal entry today. Don't know why. Here it is, make of it what you will.

I thought the only weak part of First Omen was the tie to an old franchise I'd never liked all that much. So this should be cool. Schafer is great.

we have got to destroy ICE and salt the earth

I will not vote for any federal candidate who doesn’t vow to abolish ICE

I will not vote for any state or local candidate who doesn’t agree to fight ICE

The thing about the latest news in the Nuzzi/Lizza story is that RFK cost the nation its measles elimination status.
"Heck of a job, Bobby."

"If the outbreaks cannot be extinguished by January, the anniversary of the first cases in Texas, the United States will lose what is known as “elimination status” as determined by the World Health Organization."
