I joked the Zines I got from the @seabookfair.bsky.social would be waived around someday when Feds crashed down my door; Well, here’s what it’s gonna look like

These are direct attacks against 1st amendment trying to criminalize independent publishing
The Federal government, along with the state of Texas, continue their crusade against the Prairieland Defendants. Des is only one of the 18 protesters that the Trump administration is attempting to paint as an “antifa” terrorist group.

THEY’RE PROSECUTING PEOPLE FOR DOMESTIC TERRORISM OVER ZINES
Alarming criminalization of green card holder based on "Antifa Materials" - another attempt to silence dissent and target people critical of this administration

As a bookstore that sells pamphlets and magazines, the criminalization of such materials feels pretty close to home. So let's take a closer look at the materials the federal government is claiming tie readers to "antifa terrorism." We can pick out six titles in these grainy photos. 1/

"Antifa materials" is intended to sound sinister but the government is talking about ESSAYS. If you read literature the regime disapproves of, you might be a terrorist, too.

Check out the fantastic 1st episode of OOOA's new podcast! Featuring deep lore from two activists who embody the anarchist ethos of "we can do that ourselves"—from starting a publishing project, to launching a radical book fair, to opening a vibrant brick and mortar community space! Truly inspiring.

Multibillion-dollar media conglomerates forced the @archive.org's Open Library to trash 500k books—a collection larger than the Library of Alexandria. Fuck intellectual property and these publishing giants that are marketing their opposition to book bans while actively attacking book access 😤
Internet Archive’s legal fights are over, but its founder mourns what was lost
“We survived, but it wiped out the library,” Internet Archive’s founder says.

Just heard @npr.org discussing the case for the first time. After repeating the gov's claims—including labeling the defendants the "North TX Antifa Cell"—w/o interrogation, 1A's anti-extremism expert guest declared that if true this is exactly the "violent organization we *should* be going after."
"According to the government’s case, the defendants’ all-black clothing, handheld radios, and use of encrypted messaging apps serve as evidence, not of their being security-conscious protesters in a period of escalating political repression but, rather, of being members of a 'militant enterprise'."

If convicted, people who showed up to a protest could face “decades of prison time,” the National Lawyers Guild says.
