According to the fundraiser, OJ has helped his owner “not lose her hope or her spark” during incarceration.

“Anything is greatly appreciated.”
Look, we really needed this one today:

🐈 💵 Thanks to some incarcerated women in Texas, a GoFundMe benefitting a senior cat named Orange Julius has raised more than $6,000 so he can be treated for a kidney infection.

I still use a 2G flip phone for a wide variety of reasons, so this is easier for me to put into action.

But I really think people need to start integrating this into their daily lives and mental habits: In today's USA, your smartphone puts you on a repressive state's map.
New: we've obtained material explaining how an ICE surveillance system, called Webloc, works. Draw shape on a map, see all phones available there, follow them home. All without warrant

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

The magic words are "I was working in the yard and something jabbed me in the thick bit of my thumb, it healed right up but someone said I should get a Tdap booster just in case" (outside, puncture wound, healed over fast are the three major risk factors for tetanus)

Periodic reminder: the vaccine efficacy of the pertussis vaccine drops below 50% at 4.5 years. You should be getting a Tdap booster every 5 years, not every 10. It is especially vital if you have contact with pregnant people or infants too young to be vaccinated.
After two infants died, the Louisiana Dept of Health under the leadership of the new incoming deputy director of the CDC, delayed notifying the public for months of a whooping cough outbreak. Instead, he ordered DOH to stop promoting vaccines. Pertussis is currently a national health crisis.
Louisiana officials waited months to warn public of whooping cough outbreak
After a whooping cough outbreak killed two infants, Louisiana health officials waited months to officially alert physicians or do public outreach. That's not the typical public health response.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

I've seen this go by a few times on TikTok now and I have to say, I love this idea. We need a way to convince people to keep running even if they don't win, maybe building the loss into it as a troll move is the secret.

New: The FBI is quietly urging ICE agents to properly ID themselves in the field.

In a bulletin to law enforcement last month, it warned of criminals posing as ICE to rob, rape, kidnap—a problem it says now demands national coordination to confront.

here's my first series of cords braided on a marudai! i wound my bobbins unevenly and ran out of a color at a time, which was a neat opportunity to play with complementary patterns. the 12 and 8 element braids had a 35% (vs 45%) counterweight, which works better with clothespin bobbins. #kumihimo

this is the first long braid i made on this stand, which is how i found out a 45% counterweight is too much if you're using clothespins for bobbins (6g each) it ended up right around 100" and should make a pretty nice pair of bootlaces #kumihimo
