i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

That’s right. Call them out. Don’t let them twist it up. Things are more expensive. Quantity is less. With almost everything.
KARL: The president claims that Thanksgiving costs are down 25%. Does he know that's not true?

HASSETT: Well if you look at Walmart--

KARL: Wait a minute. I've gotta stop you. The Walmart package this year contains much less than the one last year. That's why the price is less.

Alice was a fearless human. She understood exactly what was needed in this world. Even in her passing, she left exactly the right words. May she find and be at peace. ❤️
bringing this statement over from Alice’s Twitter. it appears the below was Alice’s last post before passing. I am heartbroken

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
