Air quality update: AQMD has completed its mobile monitoring survey in and around the Palisades, after completing the Altadena survey the week before.
Results show no elevated levels of:
- Air toxic metals including lead and arsenic
- VOCs including benzene

I can't take all of my nostalgic valuables with me but I sure as hell can go on a scanning rampage to make sure they're digitized with redundancy the next time a wildfire earthquake disaster etc makes me grab my go bag and run!

I wrote this thread in mid-November when I felt overwhelmed. It helped me remember how little things still matter and can add up, as well as why values like kindness and ethics are still important despite the election results.
every time I wonder if little things like recycling matter anymore, I remember how many people told me I helped them with the reminders not to doomscroll, or how my reporting mattered to them, or I re-read the card several students and young journalists signed for me after I mentored them in Sept

There is something so sweet about the human capacity for enthusiasm. For a few days everyone in LA has been glued to Watch Duty and getting in the weeds of how water drops work. Now there are people out here who honestly have a favorite water plane that they are following closely and rooting for.
