35 years ago, on October 3, 1990, Germany was reunified. Just two months later, voters in the former GDR went to the polls in the first free federal election since the Weimar era. Despite decades of socialist dictatorship, East German voting behavior displayed marked regional differences. Thread🧵

It's near my honetown.
Scheduled for our X-mas vacation ;).
Yesterday was the opening of our major special exhibition "Foreign neighbours - Rome and the Germanic people" in our branch museum Limesmuseum Aalen.
A highlight of the exhibition is the presentation of prestigious grave goods from Germanic burials unearthed in Kariv, Western Ukraine, in 2017. 🧵1/3

🧵 Jan Steen (c1626-79) was one of the great Dutch Golden Age painters. His art has even given rise to to a Dutch expression - a Steen Household - which is a chaotic one. He was a great Old Master whose work celebrates & mocks Dutch life & his is a merry world! Let’s take a look! [1]

Gratuitously posting this because I think kidney tumours are rewarding. Chromophobe RCC, plant-like cell walls and wrinkled nuclei. Very pretty staining for Hale’s colloidal iron. (Tumour was 133 mm!)

#PathSky 37M with a colonic mass. PMH significant only for a thin melanoma of the arm. Long sweeping fascicles of myofibroblasts, thin-walled vessels, perivascular edema, nuclear beta-catenin. “Desmoid- next case.” So why share it here?

#PathSky 84M with lung nodule, signed out as “adenocarcinoma, favor pulmonary origin”. There is supposed to be a bit of TTF1 expression, but it is subtle to say the least.

#PathSky Intravascular papillae are fun to photograph. We tend to associate them with Dabska tumor (papillary intralymphatic angioendothelioma), but you can see them in other hemangioendotheliomas, angiosarcomas and non-neoplastic lesions.
